Persistance

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

~ Calvin Coolidge

I tried it again last night, sleeping without my audiobook.  And I dreamt I had a job as an exterminator.  I had to kill mice with rat poison, but save the frogs.  Once I was done with that, I was to lay oysters all over the place.

As soon as I woke up I looked it up in my dream dictionary.

Mice: Beware of enemies and false friends

Frogs: Wise friends are there to guide you

Oysters: Carefree living

In the dream I accidentally poisoned a frog.  He jumped in a trap that was set for the mice.

I think the dream means that I hurt people who don’t deserve it.  It was nearly impossible to poison the mice and keep all the frogs alive.  The frogs kept leaping everywhere.  I didn’t even get the chance at laying down the oysters because they couldn’t be laid directly on top of the poison.  The poison had to be washed away first along with the dead mice, but I couldn’t wash anything away without washing the frogs away too and I didn’t want to harm the frogs.

It’s like a riddle.  How do I separate the mice from the frogs?  In the dream I was scooping them up in a net and then poisoning the net, but a frog would leap in, get the poison all over his feet and then leap out and spread it.

I have a weirdo client to deal with tomorrow.  The type that’s cheap, always looking for a deal – plus she stares at me and wiggles around.  I already called her and left a voicemail telling her we no longer accept personal checks and if she wants to pay membership price, she needs to provide a credit card.  Hopefully those two things will keep her away.  If not and she comply’s, I’ll have to turn to plan B:  The truth.  “I don’t think we can accommodate you anymore….”

I’ve massaged her 3 days in a row.  One of my employee’s kept answering the phone and booking her with me.  It all ends tomorrow.  I don’t have time for this shit.  I’ve only massaged her those three times and that’s pretty much the extent of my patience.

I guess she’s a mouse I have to deal with.  By laying the law down, not letting her get membership rate or paying with personal checks should separate her from the pack.  The frogs pay for services rendered and she is no frog.
